Nudist idea #59: Get to a naked yoga class

It seems naked yoga as taken the yoga world by storm. Almost every week, you read about this new naked yoga class, or this gym club that opened a naked yoga section. Some are even developing and leveraging the web, like Naked in Motion, if you happen to live in New York or Boston or Yoga Naturiste Paris, if you are in Paris. As a naturist, you cannot but rejoice of those news! The Naked Yoga School site is also a great resource to learn more about naked yoga.

There’s no silver bullet to a better health but having a balanced diet, sleep enough and have a physical activity. Yoga is one of those activities and you can more and more practice it naked, whether at home or at a naked yoga class. The latter is better for two reasons: one, you are guided, therefore can learn new positions and get corrected if needed, second, you will meet other like-minded people and may expand the number of your nudist friends.

I am just better naked and feel better when having any activities entirely naked. Then, you have no clothes that will interfere with your movement and positions. You will see your body working, your muscles, your exact position in the mirror if there is one. Finally, you will appreciate more this body of yours. Many claims that during a naked yoga class, you will also realize that other bodies are not perfect. This is one of the many benefits of social nudism.

Are you practicing naked yoga? Alone or in a group? We would love to hear about your experience in the comment section below. As usual, Get Naked, Stay Naked, Live Naked and Share the Naked Love!

Why practicing yoga naked?

Among many questions people ask about naturism is what do naturists do naked? My natural answer is anything that can be done safely. Yoga is one of the many activities where being clothed does not make any sense. Willow from Naked in motion explains why Nude Yoga is the video below.

I find it to be a great summary of why practicing yoga naked. There are many benefits to yoga. There are additional benefits to nude yoga as described in previous posts: I Took a Naked Yoga Class and I’ve Never Felt Better About Myself, and Yoga undressed, a wonderful liberating practice.

Yoga is among the hundreds of activities you can practice naked and once you try you never go back to wearing anything but your smile.

The Surprising Reason I’m Always Mostly Naked

Not much to add to this article, but its conclusion: “living life mostly naked has been, hands down, the most liberating, joyful, and healing practice of my entire life.

If you still wonder why naturists accept being entirely naked and carrying their normal activities without wearing any clothes, the above article will shed some lights on an experience with near nakedness and nakedness, mostly linked to what clothes are really for most people. A great personal experience on the exhilarating journey to body freedom!

I Took a Naked Yoga Class and I’ve Never Felt Better About Myself

This is probably one of the best articles on nudity in mainstream media. This is to share with all non-nudist friends and family. Yes, this is yoga. Yes, not everybody is in yoga. Yet, it’s naked social activity. The article titled I Took a Naked Yoga Class and I’ve Never Felt Better About Myself describes how the author moved from doubtful to doubtless about the many benefits of naked yoga.

Here are some extract from the article that resonated well with me:

  • One guy said that “if everyone’s naked, no one’s naked.”
  • But after a while, you completely forgot about not having any clothes on. I was more focused on the poses, my breathing, and my screaming muscles than I was on being naked.
  • And you know what? Aside from being sweaty and sore and spending every second wishing it were over because guys, it was an intense workout, I loved it. I’ve never felt quite so in tune with how my body was working. It really was freeing.
  • Among other things, nudity removes distractions. I wasn’t comparing my outfit to the Lululemon leggings the stylish girl in front of me was wearing. My sports bra wasn’t digging into my ribcage and making me uncomfortable. I didn’t get a wedgie every flow sequence.
  • When I told my friends that I was trying this, most people had the attitude of, “Wow, that’s so great. It sounds so intimidating! That’s something I could never do.” But the whole point is that everyone can do this. Nudity is universal. Bodies are universal.

I think it really describes well what, we naturist, feel daily when we are naked alone at home, in nature or with fellow naturists. Really, nudism is the best possible lifestyle and nudity should find it’s normal place in society.

Yoga undressed, a wonderful liberating practice

Let me start by saying that I have not relationship to the below website and of course no commercial interest. I just happen to bump into it while browsing the web. I have practiced yoga on my own for quite a while now and always naked. I find it much more comfortable to be entirely nude to do your salutations to the sun and all the other various yoga moves.

Before going further on the site and the many benefits of yoga, enjoy the trailer found on youtube:

The images are beautiful and gives a wonderful overview of the joy of naked yoga. I have not purchased the DVDs you will find on the Yoga Undressed web site, and I am not sure if the company is still active as you will find a lot of those videos on youtube by just looking for Yoga Undressed. I always feel sorry when copyrighted material is shared freely on Youtube, but if anybody can give feedback on whether the company is still alive and sell the DVDs (last post on their blog is dated August 31, 2014), this may help.

On the site, I particularly enjoyed the history of Naked Yoga and how Naked yoga helps “promoting an enhanced awareness of the body”. As naturist we enjoy being naked, practicing yoga naked will reinforce our sense of well-being and the acceptance of our body. The text is well written and illustrated by beautiful picture.

“Your body is a temple. Come inside and pay homage. Honor yourself with love and gratitude.” Have a deep look at the Yoga Undressed website.
